Presentations Training: From Panic to Purpose

A Dialogue With Your Audience

Choose a goal that involves your audience — having a purpose or goal that involves your audience relaxes you as if you were in a dialogue with them, instead of performing for them.

A dialogue is something you engage in every day. Even if you’re not the most confident conversationalist, a dialogue feels more natural and familiar than a formal presentation. When you give a formal presentation you may feel like you’re performing or delivering a monologue, and unless you’re a trained actor, a monologue is a lot tougher to pull off than a dialogue.
